On November 8th, 2016 the next president will be elected in the USA.
The new president and his/her VP will be elected by a electoral college, which consists of 538 presidential electors from the fifty states and Washington, D.C. These presidential electors are selected on a state-by-state basis, as determined by the laws of each state, mostly on a winner-take-all basis, based on the statewide popular vote on election day.
