Elon Musk has repeatedly denied that he wants to run for US president. Also only natural born US citizens can run and Musk only acquired citizenship on grounds of five years legitimate US residency in 2002.
So, is the future certain? Elon Musk will never be US president? Let's see:
Three hints that all may not be as clear as it seems:
1. Musk has quite a few projects on his hands, and not exactly easy ones. And still, he invested quite a large amount of money even by his standards – not to mention his even more valuable time – to acquire Twitter which is arguably one of the most powerful media companies in the world today. Control of Twitter could be decisive in a US presidential race, particularly as it is the information channel of choice for many political journalists. Already before he acquired Twitter, he famously tweeted: "Who controls the memes, controls the universe."
2. Musk also dislikes the dysfunctional two party system. He publicly supported Kanye West and Andrew Yang which shows his inclination for independent candidates.
3. The strongest indication of all is the lengthy way in which his mother, Maye Musk, obtained US citizenship, casually mentioned in her tweet from 4th of July, 2021.
Instead of going for the five year residency application like her son, she undertook a drawn out 12 year (!) process to obtain citizenship on grounds of her father being from Minnesota. So now she's a natural US citizen.
This begs a few questions:
Why would she do that? Is her natural son, Elon Musk, now a natural US citizen, too? Is Elon Musk therefore in truth already eligible to run for US president?
The future will tell. Your predictions please!
